For the next few months Jupiter will take respite from the cool, analytical climes of Aquarius in the warmer and dreamier sign of Pisces, one of the domiciles that it rules. Since the end of 2019 up until today, the planet widely known for its powers of expansion has been in Capricorn and Aquarius, which are both ruled by Saturn.
If Jupiter is a YES, then Saturn is a NO. They’re archetypal opposites. When a planet’s placement does not favor it, challenges can arise. Man, have we had challenges. Of course, they weren’t all “bad”. If you haven’t seen the movie Yes Man (@jimcarreyhere), that’s your homework. It explains this facet of Jupiter pretty well. I always think of “the Midas touch”, which is understood as a “good” thing. Everything you touch turns to gold. Sounds cool. But if you remember the story, King Midas couldn’t eat any of his fancy feasts or know the touch of a lover because everything he held turned to solid metal. Jupiter is not the best with moderation, so one of the more positive things that came from Jupiter in Capricorn and Aquarius is the ability to pump the breaks a bit. We probably didn’t want to do it a lot of the time, but we knew that we it was for our highest good.
That being said, as the cosmic guru moves into a temple more amenable to his will, a lot of things start to open up. Pisces is known for being unbounded, super-conscious, ethereal, nebulous, empathic, emotive, creative, receptive, yin, watery, and changeable. It’s symbol is the two fish tied together but swimming in opposite directions. Its season (in the northern hemisphere) is when the cold and dark are diminishing and giving way to warmth and light. It is not fully one or the other, but a dance between them. Pisces is about releasing. Being the last sign of the zodiac, it’s purpose is to integrate what works and let go of the rest before the cycle starts anew in Aries.
Jupiter in Pisces will have specific meaning for you depending on what part of your chart the fishes fall into and which planets are playing there**. These are some themes that we will all be working with or at least observing:
- “Love looks not with eyes, but with the mind, And therefore is winged Cupid painted blind” – A Midsummer Night’s Dream is actually a super suitable reference, especially since Jupiter in Pisces is sending a square to Venus in Gemini. Watch it (or read it if you haven’t been totally ruined)!
- “A dream is a wish your heart makes when you’re fast asleep” – Disney’s Cinderella
- Great expansion that was preceded by a period of contraction, like taking a belly breath after two years of shallow breathing
- Joviality, gregariousness, pleasantries, good-naturedness
- Broad thinking and ideas, the feeling of being able to do what seemed impossible or at least improbable before
- Feeling the deep interconnectedness of all things… Think the blanket example from I Heart Huckabees (please watch)
- Connecting more with personal truths and beliefs (for better or worse)
- Powers of manifestation becoming stronger (for better or worse)
- Overdoing it, whatever ‘it’ is
- Probably some culty stuff mixed in there
- Pisces rules the feet, so…
My words of advice: be impeccable with your thoughts. With other astrological stuff that is going on, we may be more inclined to overthink at this time, but it’s super important that we rein it in. With how open a space Pisces is, we need to be very mindful about how our thoughts imprint our realities. There is really amazing opportunity here for conscious creation, but there is equal opportunity for unconscious creation. Watch your fears. Witness and respect them, but see them for what they are. Utilize that awareness to bolster yourself and commit to believing that what you want is possible and probable if you give it space.
One more quote, but with some slight alterations… You may remember this line from one of the final numbers in The Rocky Horror Picture Show, “don’t dream it, be it”. What Jupiter in Pisces feels like to me is, “if you can dream it, you can be it”. Think on that.
