Pluto has been in Capricorn for a LONG time. I mean, since 2008. It’s not moving into Aquarius for another two years still, but it is hangin out around late degrees these days. The underworld ruler, planet of fate, power, and past life exploits has just turned around for it’s roughly 5 month yearly retrogradation about a month ago. A few days prior, Mars had moved into its fall (a place where a planet does not have the best of times) in Cancer. Since then, the energy of their imminent opposition has been building. Tomorrow they will be within range of engagement which will last until June 12. Things are about to get really interesting.
Oppositions are not about inner turmoil like squares are. They tend to present themselves more in the form of outer catalyzing forces. With Capricorn and Cancer, this is about the balance between holding on to what we’ve created and our ability to conscientiously compartmentalize parts of our lives so that we can move forward. Pluto is asking us to confront the ways in which we have pushed the past aside in the interest of getting ourselves unstuck that may have been lacking in awareness. Mars is helping us to focus in on the dynamics that have kept us from casting off the proverbial hermit crab shell even though we’ve outgrown it. Watch for external factors that are forcing the issue.
As I mentioned, watery, emotive Cancer is not the happiest home for Mars, the god of war and willpower. However, nurturing and supportive surroundings can help to soften the Martian temper. The important thing is to look before you leap. The crab’s claws can be extra sharp and extra pinchy right now. If you feel defenses flying, step back. Once water reaches a rolling boil, remove from heat and let cool right the fuck off before engaging. Use that sweet and tender Cancerian vibe to lead your difficult conversations.
This is going to be fairly specific from person to person depending on where Cancer and Capricorn fall in each of our charts. If you are seeking further illumination on any of these matters, I would love to hold the light for you! Email me at sarahann.landau@gmail.com to book a reading.
